MAINTENANCE

Preventive maintenance — the difference between a profitable and a costly machine

Shot blast machine components operate under conditions of permanent high abrasive wear. Blades, rotor, control cage, casings, internal liners and the shot transport system wear during normal operation and must be replaced before their wear level compromises machine operation or process quality.

Preventive maintenance is the only approach that ensures reliable machine operation, prevents unexpected downtime and keeps operating costs under control. Failing to replace worn components in time leads to premature machine failures, high abrasive consumption, process times above standard and higher maintenance labor costs.

An efficient preventive maintenance program includes: periodic checks of wear levels on all turbine and transport system components; operating mix control and replenishment at defined intervals; turbine hot spot verification; dust collection system and filter condition review; and statistical records of shot consumption, process times and replaced parts.

The highest operating costs of a shot blast machine are usually related to poor operating practices — not equipment failures. Training the personnel who operate and maintain the machine is just as important as having the right spare parts in stock.

CYM Materiales offers after-sales technical support, on-site training and process follow-up for each installed machine.
